Birdie C. Stuckey

Birdie C. Stuckey, 77, of Libby, died from natural causes on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at the Libby Care Center.

She was born April 16, 1931 in San Diego, Calif. to Herb and Anna Briggs. She graduated from Grossmont High School in El Cajon, Calif.

She worked at Scripps Ranch in Santee, Calif. for several years. She married Bob Stuckey in Reno, Nev., and they later divorced.

She came to the Libby area in the 1950s with her son, Tim. She found employment at the C.W. Wade ranch where she worked for several years. She then went to work for Western Union. She also had worked for the U.S. Forest Service at Raven Ranger Station, and then the Libby Supervisor’s Office until her retirement in January 1986.

She enjoyed the outdoors, going on drives, picnics, seeing all of the animals and lunching with her special friends.

Survivors include a son, Tim Stuckey, of Libby; and a brother, Miles Briggs and wife Lucille of Libby; and a nephew.

Services will by Friday, March 20 at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Libby. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association or Kootenai Pets for Life.
