Sure, the snow is still falling and winter coats haven’t been stored away just yet, but that didn’t stop the Libby Loggers American Legion baseball team from breaking out the mits.

Kelly Morford’s crew opened practice this past Thursday with a workout in the Libby High School gymnasium. The team returns several players and will be hoping to pull off a repeat of last year’s district-winning success.

The Loggers will host the Stars of Tomorrow Camp on April 18 before heading to the Eureka Tournament on April 25-26. The first regular-season game arrives May 1 against Eureka. Games continue through the summer with the district and state playoffs in late July.

Among this season’s highlights is the Area51bats.com Wood Bat Tournament on May 23-24 at Lee Gehring Field. The Loggers will also host the Big Bucks Tournament on June 19-21 and the always-fun Logger Legends Alumni Game on June 27.
