Letter: Senators not interested In upholding rule of law

| March 4, 2009 11:00 PM

Dear Editor:

The circus in Washington, D.C. continues unabated. In observing a recent act under the big tent, I am appalled at the unprincipled people that we’ve elected.

Sen. Max Baucus chairs the Senate Finance Committee. During recent hearings, he found a crook acceptable as a candidate for treasury secretary. Timothy Geithner, an admitted tax cheat, received a positive endorsement from his committee. The senator also voted for the crook on the Senate floor, as did Sen. Jon Tester.

These clowns are really not the issue. The rule of law and support thereof certainly is the important point in this instance. Our Constitution is based on that basic principle and any undermining of it compromises our democracy. Both of our senators seem to think that being a crook and running the tax collection system is acceptable.

The only conclusion I can reach is that neither senator is interested in upholding the rule of law. I believe they both have violated their oath of office.

I would happily volunteer my efforts toward a recall effort for either or both of these embarassments that we have elected.
