The Lincoln County Relay For Life is part of an American Cancer Society test program on Sunday to collect donations through text messages.

Supporters on June 28 can send a text message from their mobile phones to make an instant $5 donation that goes toward the fight against cancer.

To participate and donate $$, text the world “PURPLE” to 20222. Respond, “yes” when prompted to confirm the donation.

The $5 charge will be added to the customer’s mobile phone bill. The transaction will be identified as a donation to the American Cancer Society via the Mobile Giving Foundation. The entire $5 goes to the ACS with none to the mobile provider. Donations are tax-deductible.

Text message fees associated with the customer’s mobile plan will apply.

Donations support American Cancer Society research, free patient services and early detection and prevention programs.
