Tap your toes to the sounds of American bluegrass on one day and then transport yourself back to the pre-1840 time period the next this weekend in the Libby-Troy region.

Both the Kootenai River Bluegrass and Beyond Festival in Troy and the Two Rivers Rendezvous near Libby runs Friday through Sunday.

Here’s a rundown of the Libby-Troy area’s “best bets” for the weekend:

• Friday-Sunday – The rendezvous out at Fawn Creek Campground gets started on Friday with several events. Enjoy the period clothing, check out what folks are tradin’ and allow characters with colorful nicknames entertain you.

The event continues on Saturday with another full lineup of events and then wraps on Sunday with the awards ceremony. Even those who are not competitors are invited to come out and enjoy the atmosphere either through an afternoon visit or overnight camping excursion.

• Friday-Sunday – The bluegrass festival’s lineup looks incredible with several fine groups making appearances at Roosevelt Park in Troy.

The headliner will be John Reischman and the Jaybirds on Friday (10 p.m.) and Saturday (7 p.m.). Besides all of the entertainment, other activities include the instrument/vocal workshop and band scramble on Saturday and the gospel hour on Sunday.

• Friday-Saturday – The Lincoln County Junior Fair will be staged at Asa Wood School in Libby. A parade is slated for Friday morning with exhibit viewing running from 1-7 p.m. on that afternoon and early evening.

Then on Saturday, check out the livestock exhibits and enjoy the performing arts presentation and awards ceremony.

• Saturday – The Arts on the Grass Arts & Craft  Fair will run from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Troy Museum. So, for those in town for the bluegrass festival, be sure to stop at the museum to sample the different types of artwork.
