Verna L. Edwards, 97, of Libby died from natural causes on Sunday, July 5, 2009 in Libby.

She was born Oct. 2, 1911 in Plaza, N.D. to Walter and Laura Smith Barker. She moved with her family to Canada in 1927. She attended the Kingsford School.

She married Harry F. Edwards on July 17, 1936 at Stanley, N.D. They resided in various places in North Dakota as well as Sandpoint, Idaho while her husband worked on the railroad. They came to Warland in 1952.

She was a member of the First Baptist church in Libby and a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. Later they lived at Ural and at Troy.

Her husband, Harry, two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.

Survivors include her two daughters, Minnie Boothman and husband Billy Bob of Libby; Joyce Goss and husband Del of Libby; two brothers, Glenn Barker and Ralph Barker; 13 grandchildren, William (Timber) Boothman and wife Marty of Libby; Timothy (Sam) Boothman of Libby; LaVerna Thorgaard and husband Tom of Kalispell; Linda Cureau and husband Paul of Roundup; Terry Boothman and wife Cindy of Libby; Laurie Boothman of Libby; Dessie Leader and husband Ken of Kingman, Ariz.; Jeret Goss and wife Ann Marie of Musselshell; Lance Olson and wife Claire of Deer Park, Wash.; Shannon Wolgast of Brownwood, Texas; Lee Olson and wife Ruby of Holly Springs, Miss.; Rett Goss and wife Jamie of Grassrange; Tawnie Olson and husband Pat of Florence; 29 great grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren. 

Services will be Saturday, July 11 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Libby. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Friday at the Schnackenberg and Nelson Funeral Home in Libby.
