Letter: Fallen heroes deserve appreciation, coverage

| July 9, 2009 12:00 AM

Dear Editor:

I would like to know why our fallen heroes, who have put their lives on the line for the freedom of others all over the world, do not get the honor, appreciation and coverage Michael Jackson has received.

He was merely a flambouyant entertainer. He did not serve his country, leave his family while serving, miss the birth of a first child, and go without seeing his or her family for all the obvious reasons.

Each of these military heroes deserve the recognition Jackson is getting. They have given the ultimate sacrifice yet their deaths routinely go unrecognized.

But the fact is, Jackson had money and our military families do not. America’s fallen heroes are ordinary people who have done extraordinary things … country first, self second. We seem to have our priorities upside-down.
