Lady Trojans win at Superior

The Troy High School girls basketball team put together a big third quarter to pull away from Superior on Saturday in nonconference action on the road.

Superior and Troy played to a 28-28 tie in the first half before the Lady Trojans began to pull away. In the third quarter, Troy outscored its opponent, 16-4.

The Bobcats attempted to shutdown Troy senior Molly Harpole but her teammates responded to the challenge with four players hitting double figures. Allie Maestas led with 16, Harpole scored 13, Jackie Pepiot hit for 12 and Cassidy Hand added 11.

Freshman Kaitlyn Koke scored 14 for Superior.

On Thursday, Thompson Falls outlasted the Lady Trojans, 53-42, in a District 7-B meeting.

The Blue Hawks performed well at the free-throw line at clutch time and got double-figure performances from Kyla Molzhon (14 points), Katelyn Jedlicka (14 points) and Rheanna Padden (10 points).

Thompson Falls held leads of 8-7 after the first, 21-16 at halftime and 33-29 heading into the fourth.

Harpole scored 15 points for Troy and Maestas added nine.

The Lady Trojans sit in fourth place in District 7-B with a 1-4 record. Overall, Troy is all even at 6-6. The girls will play host to Noxon on Friday and then hit the road for Plains on Saturday.
