Carson R. Hinton

Carson R. Hinton, 94, died on Jan. 14, 2009 at his home in Libby. He was born on July 26, 1914 at Wymore, Neb., the son of Grove C. and Pearl (Smith) Hinton. He grew up in Wymore and when he was in the seventh grade, he started working as a hired hand on farms to help his family.

On Oct. 8, 1941 he entered the U.S. Army until he was honorably discharged on Oct. 8, 1945. He married Cora Lorain Brown on Sept. 3, 1946 in Brown County, Kan. They moved to California where he worked for the Ventura Water Department for 20 years, retiring in 1980. 

He moved to Libby to be with his daughter in March 2008. He enjoyed woodworking and cars. He took good care of his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Lorain, and a son, William.

Survivors include three children, Barbara Hinton, Cyndell Hinton – both of Libby; and Matthew Hinton of Vandenberg Air Force Base in Lompoc, Calif.

Services will take place in Bakersfield, Calif. Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby handled local arrangements.
