Doris J. Battin

Doris J. Battin, 64, died on Dec. 31, 2008, at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital in Libby.

She was born on March 23, 1944 at Yamhill County, Ore., to Jesse Junior and Anita Maria (Elsass) Stevens. She grew up in Libby and graduated from Libby High School in 1962.

She lived in Texas for several years until she moved back to Libby in 2000 to be a primary caregiver for her folks. She enjoyed gardening and sewing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Battin, her mother and two brothers, Kenneth Stevens and Larry Syth.

Survivors include her son, Monty Ottwell and wife Dana of Alexandria, Va.; sister, Mary Thomas and husband Dave of Helena; two brothers, Charles Stevens and wife Ruth of Athol, Idaho; and Gregory Syth and wife Tina of Cheboygan, Mich.; dad, Melvin Syth of Libby; and three grandchildren.

Services will be held later this coming summer.

Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby handled arrangements.
