Lady Loggers cruise past Pirates, 53-34

The Lady Loggers broke open the game in the second quarter and went on to win by 19 points in the team’s regular-season finale at Polson on Saturday.

Libby and Polson were tied, 12-12, after the first quarter but Jim May’s squad found some breathing room in the seond to lead by seven at the break. In the second half, LHS dominated for a final score of 53-34.

Jackie Mee scored 11 of her 28 points in the second quarter, which included a pair of 3-point field goals. Brittany Martin also hit double digits with 10 points.

Libby enters this week’s Northwestern A divisional tournament at Kalispell at the No. 2 seed and will receive a first-round bye. The Lady Loggers, which finished the regular season at 8-2 in the conference, 13-5 overall, will play at 8 p.m. on Friday against the winner of a first-round matchup between Bigfork and Ronan.

Breanne Kelley scored 12 to lead Polson, which finished 5-5 in the league, 8-10 overall.
