The Troy High School girls basketball team missed advancing to the District 7-B Tournament by one point with a painful, 38-37, loss to Plains on Tuesday night.

As the fourth- and fifth-place teams in the regular-season standings, the two schools were squaring off in a “play-in” game to determine who nabbed the final spot in the tournament.

Lacey Hermiston of the Trotters scored the game-winner with 2 seconds remaining. She scored on an offensive rebound after teammate Heather Earhart had missed. Earhart led Plains with 12 points.

Molly Harpole scored 19 for the Lady Trojans and Allie Maestas added 11.

Troy ends its season at 7-12 while Plains will get a shot at top-seeded Eureka on Friday.
