Graham coaches his final home meet for Greenchain
Libby coach Jay Graham made his final home appearance on Saturday as head coach of the Greenchain wrestling program.
During a ceremony preceding the championship round, Graham’s wife, Judy, presented him with a framed photo for his service to the program.
During his tenure, Graham coached 11 state champions and 33 wrestlers that finished in the top three at state. Raised in Libby, Graham left for a period of time before returning to the community in 1990 and taking over as head coach the following year.
When asked about his run as head coach and watching his son take the divisional title in his last match in front of the home crowd, Graham said he really doesn’t get caught up in emotion of it all.
“It’s been an honor to be a coach where you grew up,” Graham said. “We have good wrestling people here and it’s been a pleasure.”
