Legion ball signups, meeting scheduled
Libby American Legion Baseball has scheduled signups and a parent meeting for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, manager Kelly Morford announced.
The meeting will take place in Room 1 at Libby High School. Youth ages 16-19 are eligible to play Legion baseball.

VFW Ladies Auxiliary sponsoring scholarship
The Libby VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 1548 is sponsoring the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Awards contest.
The contest is open to all students in grades 9-12 enrolled in public school or home-schooled. Prize amounts are $10,000 for first, $5,000 for second and $1,500 for third and fourth. The deadline to enter is March 31.

Valentine’s Day-themed after-school program
The Libby Public Library will hold a Valentine’s Day-themed after school program on Thursday, Feb. 12 from 3:30-4:30 pm.
Participants will have access to various art materials with which to construct Valentine’s Day cards. Participation is free and open to all. Snacks will be provided.
American Legion in Libby plans bake sale
The Libby American Legion post will hold a bake sale on Friday, Feb. 13.
The sale begins at 11 a.m. and will continue until all items are sold.
Proceeds go toward Girls State.
Asbestos-related funding hearing set
State funding of asbestos-related agencies will have its first hearing Thursday, Feb. 12 at 3 p.m. in the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee.
House Bill 414 is a request for the availability of grant money to communities suffering adverse effects from asbestos contamination. Primary sponsor Rep. Jerry Bennett (R-HD1) requested the hearing in conjunction with the Montana Association of Counties meetings being held in Helena.
Without continued assistance the Libby Asbestos Medical Plan and the Asbestos Related Diseases Network will exhaust existing funding later this year.
