Cabinet View FD schedules work day

The Cabinet View Fire Department has scheduled a work day for Saturday, Feb. 7, officials reported last week.

The activity will begin at 9 a.m.

Library to give presentation on longtime librarian

The Libby Public Library will host a presentation by Ray Stout on Tuesday, Feb. 10 about longtime librarian Inez R. Herrig.

Herrig served as librarian for Lincoln County for more than 60 years and is credited with expanding the library’s services during her tenure.

The presentation begins at 7 p.m.

‘Matters of the Heart’ program set for Feb. 10

The Diabetes Awareness and Support Group’s regular meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 7p.m., at Christ Lutheran Church in Libby.

The program, “Matters of the Heart,” will be presented by Dr. Glenn Gunther of Libby Clinic.

Youth baseball, softball signup sessions slated

Libby youth baseball has scheduled registration sessions for this coming season.

The local league, which is affiliated with Babe Ruth League, has teams for boys ages 5-12 and girls ages 5-14. Birth certificates are required for all new players and a copy must be available upon registration.

Signup dates are Feb. 24 and Feb. 26 at Asa Wood (2:30-6:30 p.m. both days) in the front lobby, and March 3 and March 5 at Libby Middle School (3-7 p.m. both days) in the front lobby.

VA representative to visit Troy, Libby on Feb. 9

A representative of the Montana Veterans Affairs Division out of Kalispell will be at Kootenai Senior Center in Troy and Libby Senior Citizens Center on Monday, Feb. 9.

Sherry Stewart, service officer, will be in Troy from 11 a.m.-noon and in Libby from 1:30-4 p.m. She will be available to assist veterans and their dependents that have questions regarding benefits.

Diabetes self-care programs this month

St. John’s Nutrition and Diabetes Support Services will be presenting two more classes in February.

“What to Eat? Carbohydrate Counting” will be Thursday, Feb. 12 from 4-5:30 p.m. “Keeping a Healthy Heart” will be Wednesday, Feb. 18 from 4-5:30 p.m.

Volunteers available to help with filing taxes

AARP Tax-Aide volunteers will be on hand each Thursday from Feb. 5 through April 9 to help people in the low- to moderate-income range with special attention to those ages 60 and older.

Volunteers can help prepare federal and state returns and can also assist with electronic filing.
