Emelia Huber

Emelia Huber, 83, a longtime Libby resident, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009 in Corvallis, Ore., from natural causes.

She was born Jan. 16, 1926 in Halliday, N.D. to Adolf and Lydia Entzel. She grew up and attended school in Halliday, graduating with the class of 1944. After receiving a provisional teaching license, she obtained her first teaching assignment at age 17. She attended college in Dickenson, N.D. working toward a teaching degree.

She eventually earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from the University of Montana while raising five children, teaching and farming.   

She married Leo Huber in March 1962. In 1966, the couple moved to Libby. They purchased the Libby Drive-In and Dome Theater in 1979 and worked together servicing the community until 2002.

In March 2008, Mrs. Huber moved to Corvallis to be near her daughter and son. She enjoyed working, gardening and cooking German food for her family.

She was preceded in death by her son, Clyde Renner, and her husband, Leo Huber.

Survivors include her children, Bonnie Zwang and husband Bob of Corvallis; Michael Renner of Corvallis; Margee Wilson and husband Bert of Libby; and Shyla Huber of Pasadena, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, Shannon, Tammy, Caitlyn, Kendal, Paige, Corey, Quinn, Mechelle, Tate, and Duncan; and three great-grandchildren, Justin, Keirsten, Kayla.

Services will be Friday, Feb. 6 at 2:30 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Libby. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5 at the funeral home.

Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby handled local arrangements.
