Cleo M. Schneider

Cleo M. Schneider, 95, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009 at Libby Care Center.

She was born on July 19, 1914 in Kansas, the daughter of James B. and Mary (Colonbori) Grant.

She liked hiking and had explored all of Horse Mountain above Libby Creek. She enjoyed visits to Schreiber Creek, Libby Creek and the Coup Ranch. Besides a love for the outdoors, she also enjoyed gardening, chickens and domestic livestock, huckleberry picking, reading and studying the Bible.

Mrs. Schneider loved to play the harmonica – an instrument she learned by ear – up until the time of her death. She was also a published poet and loved to dance. She was a past president of the Libby VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Royal Order of Cooties, which is associated with auxiliary.

Family and friends will remember her for being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claire, on Aug. 7, 2008.

Survivors include her children, April Felsman of Libby; R. Wesley Johnson of Titusville, Fla.; granddaughter, Jenese Walker and husband David of Oregon; brothers, James Cletis Grant of Great Falls; a sister, Ila Hazen of Mancos, Colo.; brothers, Victor Grant and Wesley Bryant; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. at the Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 14 from 1-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
