Letter: Universal health care will benefit lobbyists
Dear Editor:
TheĀ universal health-care legislation our government is frantically attempting to formulate cannot possibly result in better care for less cost for the American citizens.
The reason for this is a simple one. The real promoters of universal health care are the drug manufacturers, insurance companies, health-care providers and tort lawyers that will profit by this legislation.
These interests are not pumping millions into the election campaigns of senators and representatives out of concern for the American citizen. They are doing so because they expect to make exorbitant profits from the legislation they influence.
The lobbyists for these interests will see to it that maximum advantage comes to them out of any plan adopted and, as always, the beleaguered middle class will pay for it.
