Letter: Hospital patient appreciates good care
Dear Editor:
Health care seems to be on everyone’s mind lately, so I found it ironic recently to be in a hospital bed with a remote control switching from channel to channel listening to the different versions of how bad or how good our present system is by various politicians and experts.
As I listened to all of this, I realized that the most important piece of the system wasn’t even being talked about – the actual people that take care of you. The Roy’s, the Marci’s, the Pat’s, the Glenne’s, the Melissa’s and the ones that come in late with a flashlight to check on you.
You can’t remember them all but to them you are a real person and they are working hard to get you better. They work at St. John’s and they are great! I don’t know where this health care thing will end up but to me the most important element of it is what I experienced at St. John’s – caretakers who are genuine and real and take care of you as a person. God forbid we lose that.
