Heritage Museum to host event for volunteers

The Heritage Museum in Libby will host a volunteer appreciation dinner on Sunday, Aug. 23 at 5 p.m. in the museum’s cook shack.

Anyone who has volunteered time at the museum is welcome. Organizers ask that attendees RSVP to the museum by Thursday, Aug. 20. Sandwiches, cheese, meats and ice cream will be served.

Bowling league meetings set at Lincoln Lanes

Local bowling leagues have organized meetings this month at Lincoln Lanes in Libby.

The following meetings are scheduled: Monday, Aug. 24, 7 p.m.; Tuesday, Aug. 25, 10 a.m.; Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2 and 7 p.m.; Thursday Ladies, Aug. 27, 7 p.m.; and Friday Mixed, Aug. 28, 7 p.m.

School supplies needed for care center drive

Libby Care Center residents will be holding a back to school drive for students in grades K-3.

Those willing to donate items are asked to drop them off at the care center before the distribution date of Aug. 27. Supplies needed include backpacks, crayons, pencils, pencil bags or boxes, glue stricks and Kleenex.

Library to host computer class

Lincoln County Public Libraries will host computer classes and its branches in August. The class will focus on creating basic budgets using Excel.

The class at the Libby Library will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. A class in Troy was scheduled for Aug. 18.

Participants are asked to pre-register for the class at the library’s circulation desk or via telephone.

Small business workshop Aug. 20 in Libby

A workshop with information on how to start and grow a small business through the U.S. Small Business Administration’s “Recovery Act” is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 20 at Flathead Valley Community College-Lincoln County Campus in Libby.

The workshop, which includes information on financing, training and counseling, will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The workshop is being sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Montana Small Business Development Center.

Grief support group to next meet Aug. 27

The Helping Hearts Grief Support Group plans to meet on Thursday, Aug. 27 at St. Luke’s Parish Hall in Libby.

The group welcomes men and women who have lost a loved one. The group is currently using a series entitled, “Journeying Through Grief,” which offers insight and comfort beyond what family members may be able to provide.

Meetings are held on the fourth Thursdays each month. St. Luke’s Parish Hall is located at 109 W. Poplar.

Parent Involvement Policy Committee to meet

Libby Public Schools’ Parent Involvement Policy Committee plans to meet on Thursday, Aug. 20 in the Central Administration Building’s Little Theatre.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and will feature information on the district’s parent involvement policy.
