THS splits with Deer Lodge
The Troy High School softball team split a pair of close games on Friday against Deer Lodge.
In the opener, the Lady Trojans posted a 7-6 victory behind strong performances from the top four hitters in the lineup. Rachel Garcia went 1-for-2 with a double and two runs scored; Megan Cummings went 1-for-2 and scored a run; Kimmy Klin went 1-for-2 with three runs scored; and Dolly Blata went 1-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI. Michelle Pillans also collected an RBI.
Alicia Anderson allowed five hits and struck out two at pitcher.
In the second game, Deer Lodge took a 4-3 win. Klin, Blata and Ashley Paasch each had one hit. Paasch hit a home run to leadoff the second inning. Klin scored two runs, Blata had an RBI and Paasch had two RBIs to go along with her run scored.
Troy then participated in the Frenchtown Tournament on Saturday and dropped games of 11-0 to Stevensville and 11-1 to Florence.
The Lady Trojans bats went silent with the only hits coming from Cummings against Stevensville and Garcia against Florence. Garcia scored the lone run for Troy in the tourney.
Troy (3-7) is scheduled to play at Noxon on Thursday.
