Although slowed down by a heel injury, Libby High School senior Seth Wright still found himself among the elite during Saturday’s Bigfork Invitational.

The University of Montana recruit won the triple jump (41 feet, 11 inches) and placed in four other individual events – high jump (second, 6-2), discus (third, 143-1), long jump (fourth, 19-5) and javelin (sixth, 153-3). Wright also ran a leg on Libby’s third-place 400-meter relay.

The Logger boys and girls each finished fourth in the 16-team race. The boys compiled 47 points to finish behind Thompson Falls, Plains and Charlo. The girls scored 55 points with Florence, Bigfork and Thompson Falls occupying the top three spots.

Libby’s Kody Berget took third in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 43.94 seconds. T.J. Benson also nabbed a placing with a fifth-place showing in the pole vault when he cleared 10-6.

The 400-meter relay of Wright, Joel Fuller, Corey Chapman and Dean Willey covered the oval in 46.58 for that third-place finish.

Erin Baker, Kaila Forster, Rachael Sweedman and Devon Hoyer each had runner-up performances in individual events. Baker heaved the shot 30-5, Forster went 14-7 3/4 in the long jump, Sweedman had a 32-9 in the triple jump and Hoyer cleared 4-10 in the high jump for second-place finishes.

Stephany Kluver placed in two events with third in both the discus (96-4) and javelin (108-5). Forster took third in the triple jump (32-2), Baker placed fifth in the discus (91-5) and Sweedman ended up fifth in the javelin (89-7).

Libby also saw two of its relays place. The 1600 relay of Sweedman, Forster, Paige Ward and Jenny Johnson took fifth in 4:42.54. The 400 relay of Hoyer, Kluver, Sweedman and Forster placed sixth in 55.99.

Libby was scheduled to participate in a dual at Columbia Falls on Tuesday. The Loggers will then host the Libby Invitational on Saturday with field events beginning at 10 a.m. and running events at 11.
