Lady Trojans off to good start this week with 2 wins

The Troy High School softball team won two of three games early this week. The Lady Trojans whipped Eureka, 16-8, on Tuesday one day after splitting a twinbill against Plains.

In the victory over Eureka, the Lady Trojans went nuts at the plate with 15 hits. Six players had two hits apiece – Michelle Pillans, Megan Cummings, Kimmy Klin, Dolly Blata, Ashley Paasch and Alyssa Olds. Cummings and Pillans had doubles.

Alicia Anderson, Audrey Messerley and Ann Hines also collected hits for Troy.

Eureka led 2-0 in the top of the first but Troy responded with four in the bottom half of the inning. By the end of the third, the home team held an 11-4 advantage. Anderson allowed just three hits over five innings of work to nab the victory. Anderson left the game with an injury but returned in the sixth. Olds allowed one hit over two innings.

On Monday, Plains took the first game of a doubleheader by a 10-6 count but the Trojans rebounded to win the nightcap, 7-4.

Plains trailed 7-5 going into the bottom of the sixth but put a four-spot up on the scoreboard to take control.

Klin and Rachel Garcia led THS offensively each with a 2-for-4 effort. Cummings, Blata, Pillans and Olds also had hits. Pillans hit a two-RBI single.

Troy broke open a 4-4 tie in the seventh inning to win the second game. Anderson allowed just three hits I a complete-game performance that included five strikeouts. The Troy defense was perfect with no errors.

Offensively, Klin went 3-for-4. Paasch was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Cummings, Blata and Hines also had hits.

Troy (2-4) heads to Plains for a doubleheader against Deer Lodge on Friday. On Saturday, the Trojans are scheduled to play in the Frenchtown Tournament.
