Dorothy E. Childs

Dorothy E. Childs, 86, of Libby died March 30, 2009.

She was born in Havre on Dec. 7, 1922 to John and Sylvia Gibson. She met her future husband Lee Childs on a ranch out of Del Bonita, Mont., and they were married in September 1942. The couple had three children – Alan, Warren and Kathy.

Not long after their first child, Alan, was born, they moved to Libby and lived up Deep Creek in a cabin.

Mrs. Childs enjoyed cooking and baking – earning a reputation for her fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, and homemade pies. She was also an avid reader and reflected fondly on her memories of ranch life.

Her husband, Lee, a son, Warren, her parents, four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. 

Survivors include her son, Alan Childs; daughter, Kathy Powell and husband George of Libby; three granddaughters, Georgia, Angie and Dawn; a grandson, Bill; three great-grandsons, Isaac, Sid and Gavin; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Private family services will be held.
