LHS tennis teams fall to Polson, Hamilton

The Libby High School tennis team dropped matches to Polson and Hamilton on the road Saturday.

Playing in Polson, the host Pirates defeated Libby, 4-3, in boys’ action and 5-2, in the girls’ matchup. Hamilton beat the Loggers by the same scores – 4-3 over the boys and 5-2 over the girls.

Jackie Mee, No. 1 singles, won both of her matches with scores of 6-3, 6-2 over Jane Probst of Polson, and 6-0, 6-3 over Kelsey Jura of Hamilton. Audra Poppen had a 6-4, 6-3 win over Polson’s Sara Keeble. Ashley Shaw was a 7-5, 6-4 winner over Hamilton’s Tara Stromberg.

Cree Maloney won both of his singles matches with victories of 6-0, 6-0 over Polson’s Christian McCurdy and 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 over Hamilton’s Ethan Selig. Hunter Sheffield downed Hamilton’s Bob Huppert, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 2 singles. Cody Ercanbrack defeated Polson’s Tom Deanovic, 6-4, 6-4.

In doubles action, winning teams included Jessie Ramos and Zach Schikora over Polson’s Andrew Storro and Sam Peel, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4), and Cyrus Maloney and Nate Broden over Hamilton’s Nolan Green and Zander Smith, 6-3, 6-2.

LHS is scheduled to play at home on Thursday with another meeting against Polson.
