Diabetes self-care programs planned
St. John’s Nutrition and Diabetes Support Services will be presenting three classes in April.
“Basic Diabetes Self-Care” will be held on Thursday, April 2 from 4-6 p.m. “What to Eat? Carbohydrate Counting” will be Thursday, April 9 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. “Keeping a Healthy Heart” will be Wednesday, April 15 from 4-5:30 p.m.

U Serve Libby raising money
U Serve Libby is accepting tax-deductible donations to raise money for the Libby Community Tennis Courts.
The courts are under construction on East Spruce Street near the Montana Athletic Club. When finished, the courts will be open to the public for family recreation, team play, lessons, leagues and tournaments.
For those who see the newspaper on Tuesday afternoon, U Serve Libby was scheduled to wait tables from 5-8 p.m. at Pizza Hut. The restaurant will donate a percentage of its dine-in sales to U Serve Libby for the tennis court fund.

Harlow’s earns regional award
Harlow’s Bus Sales garnered a regional dealership award during the parent company’s spring meetings recently held in San Diego.
IC Bus President John McKinney announced Harlow’s Bus Sales of Auburn, Wash., as the Western Region Dealer of the Year award winner.
Harlow’s operates dealerships covering North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Washington and Wyoming – including in Libby.
LHS looking for volunteers to help with track meets
Libby High School is seeking volunteers to help with local track meets this season, athletic director Dolly Crum announced.
The Loggers will host four meets this spring season and volunteers would help with various events. Even volunteers who can’t stay for the whole meet and work only an hour or two are appreciated, Crum said.
Home meets are the Libby Time Trials on April 9 (2 p.m. start), Libby Invitational on April 25 (10 a.m.), Lincoln County Track Meet on May 5 (3 p.m.) and a dual against Flathead on May 15 (3 p.m.).

Free health seminar coming to Montana AC
A free public health seminar is coming to the Montana Athletic Club on Tuesday, April 7 at 11:30 a.m.
St. John’s Lutheran Hospital occupational therapist, Cindy Sullivan, will provide a program called “Aging in Place.”

Children’s choir plans dinner, auction
The Libby Children’s Select Choir will host a dinner and auction on Friday, April 3 at 5:30 p.m. at Libby Middle School.
The event will serve as a fundraiser to send the group to a national choir competition in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Among the items to be auctioned will be a 15-speed bicycle.
Tickets will be available at the door and cost $5 for per person or $15 per family of four.

Community Health Fair set for Saturday
The 13th annual Community Health Fair – sponsored by St. John’s Lutheran Hospital – will be held Saturday, April 4 from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Memorial Center in Libby.
More than 50 vendors will have tables with interactive displays and information about a variety of health and wellness products and services available in the community. There will be a special activity for children.
Vouchers for reduced cost lab screenings will be available.

Oral histories to be featured in library program
In the Lincoln County Libraries’ ongoing series of programming, “Soul of a People,” Rich Aarstad will present an analysis of oral histories conducted by the Federal Writer’s Project – a Works Progress Administration program – on Tuesday, April 7 at 6 p.m. at the Libby Public Library.
Aarstad is an archivist and oral historian with the Montana Historical Society.
“Soul of a People: Writing America’s Story” is a TV documentary about the Federal Writers’ Project produced by Spark Media, Washington, D.C., and broadcast on the Smithsonian Channel HD.
