Letter: Police help curb auto antics

| September 26, 2008 12:00 AM

Dear Editor:

Either standing in the parking lot or looking out the window of Flying Tiger Hobby daily, I watch auto antics on Sixth Street West, over the bridge and into the Asa Wood school zone.

The wildest time is just before 8 a.m., when folks are rushing to beat that clock for work, school, coffee or whatever. This morning (Sept. 16), I was pleased to see a Libby Police Department car tucked right on the edge of this area in plain view monitoring the situation.

I was pleased to see those brake lights come on when the drivers spotted the cop. Funny how they often do not come on when they spot a kid, senior or other pedestrian. I was pleased to see the light bar on the squad car start to flash and watch a vehicle get pulled over. It makes me wonder if you are not paying enough attention to see the cop in plain sight, what chance does that little kid have?

I've noticed that both LPD and the Sheriff's department have increased monitoring this area, and I say thanks.

Cyrus A. Lee
