Karen Jo McFarland

Karen Jo McFarland, 61, of Libby died Sunday Sept. 7, 2008, of natural causes at St. John's Lutheran Hospital.

She was born Aug. 23, 1947, in Sebastopol, Calif., to Warren and Olivia Wetzel Wood. She grew up and attended school in Sebastopol.

After high school she attended Sacramento State College where she earned a degree in teaching. She taught elementary school in Oakland and Sonoma, Calif.

She married Charles McFarland 28 years ago in Sebastopol. They moved to Libby the last day of 1999.

She was a talented artist and also enjoyed gardening and walking her dog.

Survivors include her husband, Charles McFarland of Libby; a brother, Bill Wood and wife Tona of Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters, Jeanie Shaw of Sonoma and Donna Shaw Lake Port, Calif.; a niece, Sandy Yarian and husband Chris of Sonoma; and nephew, Kevin Shaw of Huntington Beach, Calif.

Private family services will be held. Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby handled arrangements.
