Letter: Okonski's characteristics make him good choice
Dear Editor:
I would like to share with our community a testimonial as to why I believe Jerry Okonski would make a good choice for write-in candidate Lincoln County commissioner.
In 1985, my husband, Walter Morkert, and family relocated from Mineral County to Lincoln County to subcontract logs for Timber Tech Inc., a stable logging business owned by Jerry and MaryAnn Okonski. Timber Tech kept my husband working steadfastly until 2003.
While in employment with Timber Tech Inc., my husband, Walt, was kept faithfully working while other companies struggled to find jobs. I also was given a job in the office, which was a great encouragement. It was a 'hand-up' and not a 'hand-out' and we prospered.
Jerry always has helped his employees, finding solutions to help, but not enable. Jerry has some very concrete ideas, plans and solutions to help the people of Lincoln County. He is a hard worker and an innovative problem-solver. He does not give up when the 'going gets rough.' I believe him to be a man of good morals without ulterior motives.
All the above characteristics that I have mentioned, I believe will make him a perfect candidate for Lincoln County commissioner.
Walter and Marilyn Morkert
