Letter: Veterans Day event deserves attendance

| November 19, 2008 11:00 PM

Dear Editor:

We attended the very moving Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 11 to honor our brave men and women who have fought and died to protect our freedom here in the good old USA.

Again, as every year, I was disappointed at the sparse attendance. I’m sure there were a lot of reasons, excuses really – it was cold, it might rain, too busy. But you know those men and women stationed all over the world who are still fighting and dying for us did not dream up any excuses when they volunteered to fight and possibly die for us.

Next year when the time rolls around, take a few minutes to honor these very brave men and women. Reflect on what they have done for all of us and what this day really means, listen to “Taps” being played and I guarantee you that you will feel better as a result of your attendance.
