What has evolved into a Libby holiday tradition returns Dec. 12-13 with St. John’s Lutheran Hospital Foundation’s 14th annual Festival of Trees at the Memorial Center.

The foundation’s KC Hoyer invites business owners, local merchants, organizations, individuals and families to promote their cause by displaying a decorated tree during the event. There is no cost to display a tree.

“This two-day event has become a holiday tradition in our community and we hope more folks will join in the fun,” said Hoyer, foundation director. “Most of the community walks through the doors of the Memorial Center at some point over that weekend, so it’s a great way to advertise and bring awareness to your organization.”

The festival’s Community night, on Friday, Dec. 12 will see a few changes this year.

“We are creating a children’s Santa Wonderland and hoping that this also becomes a community tradition,” Hoyer said. “We are trying to provide a safe and warm environment for parents to bring their children to have their holiday wishes granted in a magical, memorable way.”

The Kootenai Karacters will entertain in Santa Wonderland and a professional photographer will be on hand. The Community night will also include the SJH Auxiliary’s chili and bake/craft sale, in addition to a variety of other children’s activities.

Of course, the trees set the background for both the Community night and the Holiday Gala on Saturday, Dec. 13.

For those who would like to enter a tree for the festival or get more information, call Hoyer at 293-0106.
