An eastbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway train collided with a maintenance truck at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, a few miles north along Fisher River Road.

There was an unidentified passenger in the vehicle who was “shook up,” but uninjured. He was transported to St. John’s Lutheran Hospital for a checkup.

The maintenance vehicle, positioned to repair some of the track once the train had passed, was totaled. The train was traveling 52 m.p.h., and had originated from Portland.

BNSF’s locomotive had minimal damage and was sent to Fisher View for repairs. The train was released at approximately 1 p.m. with a four-hour delay.

There is no overall damage estimate and the investigation is ongoing, according to Gus Melonas, regional director of public affairs for BNSF in Seattle.
