Response to Highwood Drive residents' concerns
To the Editor:
Dear Residents of Cabinet Heights,
You’ve brought up interesting items for all of us at the city.
Regarding the discharge of firearms around the city; presently you may not discharge a firearm within the city limits. The city can implement a buffer zone around the city, but this is where it gets complicated.
The item is being added to our May 20 meeting agenda, allowing us to discuss the subject in depth. The public is always invited to city council meetings.
Regarding the Cabinet Heights sewer projects, we have been remiss in not keeping residents better updated. We have not recently met with residents of Bowen Hill and Cabinet Heights and for that we apologize. The city has received three grants, WERDA, TSEP, DNRC, to date for the project. We are still waiting to hear regarding a rural development grant. Neither the city nor the mayor has ever used the words “no cost,” it has always been “at little cost.”
We will schedule a community meeting as soon as possible with the project engineer. You will be notified of the date of this meeting at the golf course. All Bowen Hill and Cabinet Heights residents are encouraged to attend this meeting.
