Helen L. Fisher

Helen Lucille Fisher, 83, of Troy died May 5, 2008 at the Libby Care Center from natural causes. She was born July 21, 1924 in Goldendale, Wash. to Marshall (Ben) and Ruth B. Hurst Collins.

Helen married David Voshall in 1942, they later divorced in 1947. They had one daughter, Sharon.

Helen married George L. Jensen Sr. in 1948 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Later divorcing in 1971, they had 15 children: Gary, George Jr. Janet, Joy, Sue, Judy, Tom, Sherry, Terri, Dale, Bruce, Tracy, Lee, Robyn and Ray and raised them in the Colville, Wash. area.

Helen then married James Horgal in Sandpoint, Idaho in 1974. James preceded her in death in 1977 from a drowning accident.

Helen then married Tom Fisher in 1983 in Usk, Wash. They owned a 700 acre cattle ranch. Tom died in 1986 from natural causes. Helen then moved to Troy where she lived with a companion Carl Hammons.

Carl died May 2, 2006 from cancer. In October 2006, Helen had a stroke leaving her unable to take care of herself and moved into the Libby Care Center until the time of her death.

There she was loved by all. Helen loved the outdoors. She could always be found gardening, sewing, crafting or plucking away on her typewriter. She loved to write stories. She was also an avid poker player and usually won. She had a huge heart and took in many who needed a friend.

Survivors include her sister Edna Fisher of Longview, Wash.; brother Don Webb of Vancouver, Wash.; all of her children Sharon Ross of Port Angeles, Wash., Gary Jensen and his wife Jeanice of Elko, Nev., George Jensen, Jr. of Kettle Falls, Wash., Janet Vierling and her husband Gary of Minnesota, Joy Jensen of Troy, Sue Koogan and her husband Doy of Kettle Falls, Wash., Judy Mason of Spokane, Wash., Tom Jensen and his wife Connie of Kettle Falls, Wash., Sherry Bergguist and her husband Mike of Colville, Terri Owens of Colville, Dale Jensen and his wife Ellen of Colville, Bruce Jensen and wife Josie of Colville, Wash., Tracy Rightmer and her husband Brian of Elko, Nev., Lee Jensen of Paonia, Colo., Robyn Hilliard and her husband Frank of Libby, Ray Jensen and his wife Shelly of Sumerset, Colo.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 9 at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home in Libby.
