Leroy E. Booth

Leroy Earl Booth, 90, of Troy, died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at his home in Troy. He was born June 23, 1917 in Cucamonga, Calif. to Leroy and Ina Mae Booth.

He grew up and attended school in Chowchilla, Calif. and graduated from high school there in 1935.

He attended college at Fresno and Cal Poly Agricultural Institute.

He married Gladys Mitchell on Jan. 5, 1942 at Bakersfield, Calif. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served until 1946 as a naval ordinance on an aircraft carrier. Leroy worked as a farmer for 15 years.

He then worked as a millwright at Monolith Portland Cement Company in Tehachapi, Calif. until his retirement in 1972. Leroy enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife Gladys Booth of Troy; sons Leroy and his wife Wanda of Albany, Ore., Steve and his wife Sheila of Boron, Calif., and Tom and his wife Debbie of Troy; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the Church of God in Troy.

Local arrangements are by the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home in Libby.
