The morality of a business venture
To the Editor:
Well over 200 years ago our forefathers came across the ocean to this land because of their faith.
They believed in a living God and a Savior.
They believed, for one thing, that a Christian life included being free from immorality.
A lot of us still believe that, which in turn is the reason that we would not be in favor of having establishments around in the likes of drinking and gambling places.
Now for those that do not have that belief, my question to you is, “Is this new establishment that is proposed doing more good or more harm to our community?”
To me it is a no brainer, because their claim of helping society does not ring true.
How can you help a community by promoting the very thing that is the main curse of the people they are saying they want to help.
Again if they want to help people with broken up homes with all kinds of problems you do not help them by promoting them with the same element that caused their problem in the first place.
Again it is not drinking and gambling.
I am not saying that drinking and gambling is all the cause, yet statistics will tell us that this is one of the big factors.
Now for the person that is stuck with a poor investment with a building in which he lost his occupants, isn't that part of an investment business?
I guess that all depends on how we look at things in the matter of money or morality.
