Sandra L. Peterson

Sandra L. (Sandy) Peterson, 66, died Thursday, Jan. 17 in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. A longtime resident of Libby, she had owned and operated Sandy's Barber Shop until her retirement.

Sandy was born in Weyerhauser, Wis. to George and Ethel Jordan on Dec. 19, 1941. She remained in Wisconsin during her childhood until later coming to Libby with her family where she graduated from Libby High School in 1960.

Sandy had resided in Libby for many years until attending Barber College in Yakima, Wash. from 1979-1980, returning to Libby upon completion of college. She married Wayne Peterson in 1990. A devoted mom and grandma, Sandy enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading and cooking as well as a good game of Yahtzee. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church. Her husband Wayne preceded her in death; she was also preceded in death by her parents and sister Colleen Collins.

She is survived by her children: Robert Taylor of Kalispell, Shannon Drapeau of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and Shelly DeHaven of McCall, Idaho; her brothers, Steve Jordan of Juneau, Alaska, and Jerry and Tom Jordon, both of Libby; and her six grandchildren Jared, Jenna, Haylie, Tanner, Melissa and Melanie.

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24 at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe Slaughter officiating. Interment services will follow at the City of Libby Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and until noon Thursday.
