Enough of the co-mingling

To the Editor:

Concerning Mr. Phillip Erquiaga's opinions for the City Council; I would add “Limit Thy Self!”

The government has little to add or subtract in a subtle Culture War, if it stays with the Constitution and our founding fathers original intent. Let preachers be preachers; and government servants occupied with infrastructure needs.

Co-mingling of the two is ugly and self defeating. And as Alexis de Toaqueville pointed out in his study of American Democracy, arguments that won't stand on their own tend to plead “for the children” over and over.
