Despite a late rally, the Loggers lost in the final seconds to third-ranked Ronan, 57-55.

The Chiefs led the Loggers 31-24 at the half and 49-34 in the beginning of the fourth quarter.

"We played hard the whole game," said coach Wally Winslow. "But we got down in the third quarter - we didn't rebound very well."

Although the Loggers got within one point of Ronan after a free throw in the last seconds of the game, they couldn't clinch the win.

Libby shot 15-for-17 from the freethrow line in the the second half, with Joel Fuller shooting 7-for-8 and Jim Mee 6-for 6.

"It was good to see the kids play hard," he added.

Mee led in points with 21; Fuller followed with 17.

This weekend the Loggers go on the road Friday in Whitefish and play at home the next night in a double header against Polson.

The Loggers won by one point against Polson earlier this year, but Winslow said all the teams have improved throughout the season.

"There should continue to be some exciting games," said Winslow.

The Loggers, 4-4 in conference and 9-7 overall, hope to grab third place in the league.
