The Libby City Council on Tuesday night appointed resident D.C. Orr to fill the seat vacated by Doug Roll.

Orr is a longtime Libby resident who may best be known as an active community participant in asbestos-related issues.

Council member Peggy Williams made a motion to appoint Orr to the position and it passed on a 3-1 vote. Williams, Charlene Leckrone and Walt McElmurry voted aye and Bill Bischoff voted nay. Lee Bothman was not present.

The vacancy was created when the council appointed Roll to the mayor’s post.
