Letter: Lions sight, hearing foundation seeks help

| December 10, 2008 11:00 PM

Dear Editor:

The Montana Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation provides financial assistance through payments to medical service providers, for medical services provided to those with sight, hearing or speech problems.

Grants are awarded primarily based on the financial need. The foundation works in cooperation with the local Lions Club, the applicant and the medical service provider to complete the application process.

Grants have been approved to help pay for medical examinations, hearing aids, general eye surgery, cochlea implants, cataract surgery, laser surgery, trekker device and vision enhancement equipment.

The foundation is also instrumental in collecting used eyeglasses and used hearing aids. The glasses and hearing aids are reconditioned and provided to those in need. Individuals can give used eyeglasses and used hearing aids to their local Lions Club.

More information and a listing of club addresses can be obtained from: Montana Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation, Box 1266, Forsyth, MT 59327; 406-346-1488; website: www.mtlionsshfnd.org . A toll free number (800-601-5004) sponsored by Low Vision Montana will help provide access to local Lions clubs.
