Edward M. Moe

Edward M. Moe, 87, died on the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at his apartment at Alpine Vista in Sandpoint, Idaho.

He married his wife, Eileen, on Aug. 24, 1942, in Las Vegas, and left shortly thereafter to serve in World War II. He was stationed in New Guinea. Known as Ed, he and his wife raised five children.

Mr. Moe had many occupations but primarily was in construction. He worked on several dams in the Pacific Northwest as a heavy equipment operator and a master mechanic. Among those was Libby Dam and during its construction, he and his wife lived in Eureka. He also worked on the Alaskan pipeline before he retired to Post Falls, Idaho.

The couple spent many summers at the Koocanusa Marina camping and fishing. He also lived with his son, Marvin, in Libby for 3 1/2 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding in the log truck with his son and grandson.

He is survived by his five children, Marvin Moe (Diane) of Libby; Sandra Wilkinson (Bert) of Sandpoint, Idaho; Dianne Hope of Twisp, Wash., Gary Moe of Yuma, Ariz., and Karol Moe of Montana; a sister, Carmen Yockey (Wayne) of Moses Lake, Wash.; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandson and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Eileen.

Coffelt Funeral Services in Sandpoint and English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho handled arrangements.

A memorial service and interment will be held for family and friends at a later date.
