Peter Barett Volkmann

Peter Barett Volkmann, 25, a former Troy resident, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at his home in Denver, Colo.

He was born July 24, 1983 in Missoula to Peter and Bette Volkmann. He attended the first grade in Thompson Falls. He moved with his family to Troy where he graduated from Troy High School in 2002.  After high school, he worked for the Forest Service during summers as a recreation specialist and firefighter. He then attended the University of Oregon where he earned a double major in 4 1/2 years. He earned Bachelor of Science degrees in both business and political science.

He then moved to Denver where he went to work for GL Company as assistant director of marketing. He was an avid hiker and enjoyed skiing, reading, backpacking, camping, traveling and skydiving. 

Survivors include his parents, Peter and Bette Volkmann of Troy; a sister, Jaime Stewart and husband Craig of Denver; and several aunts and uncles.

Services will be Saturday, Dec. 6 at 11 a.m. at Troy Community Baptist Church. Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby handled arrangements.
