Ruth Adamson Licking

Ruth Licking, 75, Libby, died Aug. 6, 2008, as a result of a brief illness.

She was born on Aug. 3, 1933, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Ole W. and Ragna (Sigbjornsen) Seelbach. The family moved back to Norway before she was 1 year old. She lived in Norway for about 14 years with part of that time under Nazi rule of occupied Norway. They moved to Libby in 1948.

She enrolled in the public school system in Libby and was able to achieve passing grades the first year despite this being her first exposure to the English language.

She married Ronald J. Adamson and to this union three children were born ' Kathi, Ronald (Jim) and Kristine. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1970 and zealously preached and taught about God's kingdom from that time until a few days before her death.

She married Leonard Licking from Newell, S.D. in 2001. During their marriage, they lived part-time in South Dakota, and the remaining time in Montana and California.

She is survived by her husband Leonard of Newell, S.D.; her daughter Kathi and husband Richard Thompson of Gardnerville, Nev.; son Ronald Jr. and wife Julie Adamson of Columbia Falls, Mont.; and her sister Peggy and husband David Strand of Libby.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Henry, and a daughter Kristine, and her first husband Ronald Adamson, Sr. in 1997.

A memorial service was held on Aug. 9 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Libby.
