Troy suffers loss in Plains, Frenchtown

Troy had a rough weekend, falling to Deer Lodge on Friday in a doubleheader in Plains, 10-5 in the first game and 7-2 in the second, and losing both games Saturday in the Frenchtown Invitational, Stevensville, 9-1, and Florence, 15-5.

Although tied 5-5 at the end of regulation play, Deer Lodge was able to score five runs in the eight for the win.

Ashley Paasch doubled, going 2-for-3, and driving in two runs against Warden powerhouse pitcher Krystal Burns, who brought on the heat in the fifth inning with a two-run triple in their five-run inning.

Rachel Garcia, Liz Straley, Delsey Olds, Megan Cummings and Alicia Anderson all singled.

Liz Straley and Megan Etienne each singled off of Burns, who allowed nine hits and five walks in the game before being relieved.

In the second game, Straley and Etienne were the only two for Troy to get a hit, with the RBI going to Olds.

In Frenchtown, Izzy Miller pitched a complete game, striking out six Trojans to help lead the Yellowjackets to victory.

Delsey Olds was the only Trojan to hit off Miller, making two hits.

In Frenchtown, Florence overtook Troy in five innings, 15-1, due to the 10-run margin rule. behind a strong effort from Kayla Daniels.

Etienne led the Trojans, going 2-for-3 with a double.
