River's Bend holds off Cabinet View for Interclub Title

| September 28, 2007 12:00 AM

River's Bend Golf Club of Thompson Falls won the Interclub Golf title for 2007 at Cabinet View Country Club on Sunday, Sept. 23. The round was the last match of the year for the five teams in the league. The matches are scored on a modified Stableford system and are played on five different courses over the season.

Cabinet View jumped out to an early lead in the season behind the strong play of Jack Flasche and Jack Myers, but River's Bend mounded a charge in the final two matches of the season to take a 14 point lead into the final round on Sunday. The rain and cold did not stop 58 players. They slouched, slipped and splat for 18 holes in weather that only a duck would love.

Ruth and Barry Fenn led the Libby charge, but when the last card was totaled River's Bend had a 14 point lead for the day and a 29 point lead for the season.

This year Cabinet View was chosen as the site of the final round because of the new 18-hole course, which means that 48 players from other towns came here twice.

Cabinet View's team is as follows:

Jack Flasche and Jack Myers

Lois Flasche and Dale Flasche

Chuck Resch and Bob Stright

Don Walker and Bryan Walker

Barry Fenn and Ruth Fenn

Floyd Bain and Bob Castaneda

Final standings:

River's Bend

Ranch Club Priest River

Sandpoint Elk's
