Troy Trojans have rough week of travel on the road

The Lady Trojans had a bumpy week away losing three of their four games.

The Troy junior varsity team played against Libby on Tuesday and won in five games with scores of 25-23, 25-16, 19-25, 12-25 and 15-13.

They traveled to Thompson Falls on Thursday and lost in three games with scores of 15-25, 18-25 and 10-25.

On Saturday, Troy played Florence losing in three games with scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-7. During the match against Florence, Liz Straley had 3 assists and led in aces. Delsey Olds had 2 kills, Brandy Koch came away with 8 digs and Mary Bass had 7 digs.

"Mary Bass is stepping up and passing the ball," said Coach Sandra Jansma. "She's doing a good job covering the court."

Troy also played Darby over the weekend and lost 23-25, 13-25 and 16-25.

In the game against Darby, Straley came away with 12 assists. Olds had 1 block and Alicia Anderson also had 1 block.

"Liz is stepping in as a setter and communicating well," Jansma added.

There was a team total of 7 aces and Koch had 2 and Ashley Paasch also had 2 aces. There were a total of 16 kills during the Darby game, with Paasch coming away with 4 kills. Koch and Paasch each had 7 digs and there was a team total of 24 digs.

Paasch, a sophomore, "stepped up with Darby and led in two of the stat categories," Jansma said.

The ladies traveled to Stillwater Christian on Tuesday. The team will be working on defense.

"We have a strong offense but we don't show it in the games," Jansma added.
