Donald E. Hart

Donald E. Hart, 79, died Thursday, Sept. 20 at his home in Libby. He was born in Sparta, Wis. to John and Opal (Andrews) Hart on March 27, 1928. He was raised and educated in Sparta and later served in the U.S. Air Force. He married Dawn Houston on June 24, 1950 in Sparta.

They resided in Sparta and later moved to Chicago where they remained until moving to Kent, Wash. They came to Libby in 1964 where he had been employed by the St. Regis Paper Company and later Champion International, working for many years on the company train as a brakeman.

Don was instrumental in starting the Pipe Creek Church and had been actively involved in church work for many years. He and his wife together had enjoyed the outdoors, enjoying camping trips with their family.

Survivors include his wife Dawn; his children, Kathy Backen and her husband Dan, Stuart Hart and his wife Janet, Julie Hart and Michael Hart and his wife Joy, all of Libby; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at the Libby Baptist Church with Pastor Darwin Scofield officiating. Arrangements are by Nelson & Vial Funeral Home in Libby.
