The game plan was to get on the board early, and remove the Polson Pirate's hopes of passing the Loggers in conference standings.

Five minutes into the match Jay Rosencrantz took a great through pass from Cyrus Maloney and tucked the first goal of the match into the back corner of the net. One minute later the Loggers stole the ball from the Pirates, drove it deep into the Pirate defense, where Rosencrantz again pounded his second goal into the net. Moments later the Loggers drove again with Kyle Berke pounding a driven shot off the Pirate goal post, and Rosencrantz chipped in the rebound to garner a hat trick for the day. Closing out the half, Cyrus Maloney sprinted down the side and lofted a beautiful cross to Rosencrantz, who scored his fourth goal of the match.

Libby opened scoring in four minutes in the second half with Cyrus Maloney again penetrating and volleying a cross to Evan May who tucked the ball past the Polson goal keeper. At 56 minutes Kyle Berke was taken down in the penalty area and Riley Hoyer stepped up to score a penalty kick for the 6th goal of the match. In the 68th minute senior mid-fielder Matt Wickstrom drove a pass through the Polson defense and Hoyer pounded in the 7th goal of the match. Closing out the half, Libby was awarded a free kick in the Polson end. Matt Wickstrom stepped up to the ball as Polson put a wall of defenders in front of the kick. Wickstrom deftly lofted the ball over the wall to the waiting forehead of Riley Hoyer, for a textbook header to score the final goal."It was a day of team play," Coach Wickstrom stated. "We all worked for each other and produced great results." The defense anchored by Scott Harlow, Dustin Morningstar, Mike McCartney and James Schnackenberg frustrated and shut down any and all Polson attacks. Senior keeper Tad Downey logged his first shut out with 4 saves.
