Joseph D. Neisess, Sr.

Joseph D. (Joe) Neisess, Sr., 67, died Saturday, Sept. 15 at his home in Troy.

Born in Champion, Minn. on Nov. 26, 1939 to Joseph H. and Sophie (Miller) Neisess, he came to Butte with his family where he was raised and educated.

He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1956, serving honorably until his discharge in 1959.

He married June Muller June 25, 1960 in Sheridan, Wyom. They lived throughout Wyoming where he worked in construction for many years. He and June and their family resided in Cheyenne, Wyom. before coming to the Troy area in 1972.

He worked as a mechanic and millwright for ASARCO in Troy until becoming disabled and retiring. His wife June preceded him in death in 2003.

Joe enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and also liked working on old cars. He also had been a model railroader.

Surviving him are his children: Joseph Neisess, Jr. of Libby; Stanley Neisess and Karen Erickson, both of Troy; a brother, Charles (Chuck) Neisess of Troy; and five grandchildren. Also preceding him in death was a brother Stanley and sisters Beverly Muller and Marie Ann Parks.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Milnor Lake Cemetery with Pastor Eric Christiansen officiating. Military honors will be by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.
